Light and floral with rip citrus and pear flavors and a delightful lingering aftertaste. Steen is produced from 100% Chenin Blanc grapes in the Western Cape Region of South Africa. Reminiscent of Sauvignon Blanc but with flavor that holds its own (some Sauvignon Blanc we’ve had has been a bit on the light side). Good balance of sugar and acidity. We enjoyed this wine without food as we collected our thoughts on our food and wine adventures from our Honeymoon and watched Tivo’ed footage of the Red Sox parade that we attended earlier today. Would also be good with a seafood dish with fresh vegetables (i.e. Salmon and Shrimp with Mango Cilantro Salsa).
Tonight was a South African theme, as we snuggled into and avoided the rainy, cool Boston night.
