Emerging from the Darkness for a Summer Sunset

After what can only be described as a disheartening month on so many levels, we stepped out to enjoy a few rays of sunshine tonight as we picnicked by the lake in Wakefield. Our meal consisted of Asian fare from two different spots in Wakefield - The Duck Walk and Sushi Island. The food from The Duck Walk was good - particularly the scallops appetizer (with a delicious yellow sauce) and the Pad Thai, which was one of the biggest portions we've ever seen. The shumai and fresh spring roll appetizers were decent, but not nearly worth the exorbitant price. C'mon - six shumai for $7.95??? Our lone tuna avocado roll from Sushi Island was tasty, but we'd need to sample more from this establisment to form any kind of positive or negative opinion. "Fun Bobby" and I paired the dinner with a nice bottle of 2003 Benzinger Chardonnay, which offered a nice blend of soft oak and fruit flavors. It was so peaceful and relaxing to stretch out on our comfy army blanket and watch the sailboats glide effortlessly through the water and the sun sink behind the clouds. The only drawback was the monstrosity that is Jordan's Furniture and Home Depot illuminating the far side of the lake.
