Vegas Fast Forward 1x
While we have the best intentions of writing up all the details of our recent Vegas adventure, we know that time has a way of getting away from us these days. Therefore, we wanted to give a quick overview of the places we ate and the things we did. Here's part I:
Restaurants:
Spago (Caesar's) - Alice dined here with some colleagues from work her first night in Vegas. This is probably the fourth or fifth time one or both of us has been to Spago (LA and Vegas combined), and it consistently delivers excellent food. The Mojitos were yummy, but the food was even better - highly recommend the goat cheese and beet appetizer salad. Goat cheese and beets are an incredible combination if you've never tried it! (although I'm partial to my brother's goat cheese and yellow beet dish that he made for my birthday).
Roy's: After missing out on this popular Hawaiian restaurant on our honeymoon, Alice was glad to have the chance to try it in Vegas. If you like seafood (especially raw seafood) and Hawaiian/Asian fusion, this restaurant has one of the best menus imaginable. Alice's Ono (Hawaiian yellowtail) was overcooked and then undercooked, but the tuna sashimi appetizer was delicious. Each dish is literally a work of art!
N9NE Steakhouse (The Palms) - Mel and I went here for our annual girls' night out and had a blast before hitting a private party in the Sky Villas in the fantasy tower at the Palms. N9NE is loud with tables very close together, but it has a great energy. The restaurant was hosting a benefit for the Animal Rescue League the night we were there, which made the atmosphere even more positive. WARNING: The portions here are huge. We shared a porterhouse steak and couldn't finish it. The sides were delicious -especially the Mac and Cheese - and so were the (healthier) salad appetizers.
Nobu (Hard Rock Hotel & Casino): Nobu is the best sushi around - hands down. It's amazing that there can be so many unique twists on raw fish. We lucked out because we sat next to two very drunk guys on a "business trip" (a.k.a. guy's weekend) who indulged us in a taste of everything they ordered - including a $60 cut of tuna (the size of two sashimi pieces). However, our favorite thing of the night was the salmon sashimi - it was melt-in-your-mouth delicious! We complemented our 3.5 hour feast with a bottle of Conundrum wine.
More to come...
